Eric Hobsbawm is considered one of the greatest
living historians. He is President of Birkbeck
College (London University) and Professor Emeritus
at the New School for Social Research (New York).
Among his many writings are the trilogy about the
"the long 19th century": The Age of Revolution:
Europe 1789-1848 (1962); The Age of Capital:
1848-1874 (1975); The Age of Empire: 1875-1914
(1987), and the book The Age of Extremes: The Short
Twentieth Century, 1914-1991 (1994).
Marcello Musto is editor of Karl Marx's Grundrisse:
Foundations of the Critique of Political Economy,
London-New York: Routledge 2008.
