Without getting too specific, Camejo told me a certain mass group controlled
by a revolutionary party was started primarily as a recruiting tool for that
party and only secondarily for the ostensible goals of the mass group - and
that they told him that in meetings.
At the time, I couldn't quite believe that was true. As things turned out,
he was quite correct.
The vanguard party idea as practiced in the States has major flaws for
exactly that reason. It can never be become a mass party because they won't
allow anyone who doesn't follow their line into a leadership position. Nor
can they ever genuinely appeal to the masses. Thus they doom themselves to
being a micro-party.
