I agree.
All my life I've listened to these characters in Washington explain
what they're doing in terms of civilization, democracy, order and
saving people who "aren't ready for democracy" from the chaos of
making their own mistakes. It all goes back to how slavery and Indian
removal (and extermination) were rationalized as part of a
humanitarian, civilizing mission.
