Pilger forgets that last August Obama decried the killing
of Afghani civilians by the US army. Karzai praised him;
the American political establishment accused him of treason. 
It's the point I decided to support him. Pilger has forgotten.
In fact Obama wants more ground troops so that the NATO 
forces don't have to rely so heavily on these
murderous air strikes and so  the Afghan National Army is not a 
simply a sitting duck for the ever more ambitious Taliban forces, intent on 
turning
victory in Afghanistan into a full scale presence in Kashmir, given
the role of India in Taliban and al Qaeda demonology.
