For me, I prefer to read the messages in the top thread index
(http://www.marxmail.org/threads.html) each day rather than in email.
There it is a major inconvenience when people's lines aren't correctly
formatted. I'm sure there's a workaround that would make unformatted
text wrap at #x characters, but it seems like a pretty simple solution
to just ensure it's correct before sending. If some people have
archaic or otherwise problematic email clients that are tripping up
their reading, it wouldn't be an issue if others were sending from
gmail or other email providers/clients that seem to not have these
problems. In any event, I'm glad the issue comes up as rarely as it
does. There are almost always more interesting things to read about
here than text formatting.
(having said all this, i've never checked the format of my own posts
to see how they come out - i'll do that now)
