Thanks for summarizing this issue appropriately, Yossi.
Regardless of some of the rhetoric you use when writing,
this clearly puts you, ideologically, on the right side
of the barricades.

Having never been to Israel (My mother thought and said,
more often than once, that "All Arabs should be shot"),
it's long been my belief that the very creation of the
Jewish state by the Zionist forces had many terrible 
consequences for Jewish people. It separates those Jews 
who identify with and support it politically and in other
ways from the rest of the oppressed of the Third World,
and pits the Jews against the Third World. Not a wise
political location for Jews to find themselves in.

I believe it's more than simply fear of a new holocaust,
but also the specific material and other privileges 
which flow from Israeli citizenship, at least for those
Israelis who are also Jewish - the Druze, Falashas and
the Arab Israelis don't benefit in the same way from
THEIR Israeli citizenship, are powerful blocks to the
development of a genuinely internationalist awareness
among the Israeli people. It's just like the privileges
of whiteness blind most people in the United States to
a need to develop a socialist and anti-imperialist
consciousness. White people in the United States, and
that includes many working people, BENEFIT MATERIALLY
from the crumbs of imperialism. Blacks in the U.S. 
think that they, too, benefit, which is why sympathy
and support for undocumented immigrants from Latin
America is not high among Blacks in the United States.

Even with as many problems as South Africa has, I note
that more than a few South African blacks participated
in xenophobic pogroms against refugees from other black
African countries where living conditions are even WORSE
than they are in South Africa, where conditions aren't
the best.

Chalmers Johnson has been trying to explain them.
