Re: [Marxism] Rescuing Lenin from Leninists
Well aren't you precious. You can talk to anyone anywhere about
socialism and everyone listens to you. That's an amazing talent you
have. I'm sure the movement is just bursting with people you've
recruited to the cause. Us lesser folks have to find other ways to get
our message out.
As for the "slander" that Nader and McKinney are capitalist
candidates, they may not be getting support from the big bourgeoisie,
but they both support capitalism. Neither wants to abolish the market,
or see the proletariat seize power. Neither are opposed to commodity
production. They support capitalism, that makes them capitalist
candidates. If you asked them directly whether they supported
capitalism or socialism, do you honestly think they'd say socialism?
Finally, no 3rd Party candidate inflicts "damage" on the two party
system. The only way we can do that in America is to change the
election laws. Any system with a first past the post system, such as
we have, automatically gravitates towards a two party system. Were the
Greens able to get enough support that the Democrats collapsed, the
Greens would simply replace them, becoming the new "left-wing" party
of capitalism. There is nothing they could do to prevent it, either,
since by law, anyone could run as a Green, and collect all the money
they want, once the Greens became a major party. In fact, even now, in
Florida, the Greens are being forced to accept people running on their
ticket whom they've never even heard of.
