Thanks Walter for that interesting article and points you raised in your intro.

Indeed China's CPC, PLA and govt leadership in the past winter's freak
snow storms, and now in this tragic case of the quakes, has shown that
the PRC is able to come to the needs of its people (like Cuba does in
dealing calmly and efficiently with their tropical storms and
hurricanes which hit the island regularly) in a planned way and in a
strategic manner (ie., for the masses) that is in sharp contrast to
the way the US has dealt with Katrina and the way the British govt
deals with its floods.

The impact of the quakes was **7.9** on the richter scale, which
lasted THREE AND A HALF minutes with scores of further after-tremors.

While not discounting the need for better housing and buildings, not
even the most technically advanced buildings built for quake-prone
areas are able to withstand this level of attack.

Salutations are due to the Chinese people, the PLA and CPC. The world
generally is in awe of the manner in which they have addressed this
terrible disaster. And this disaster, after the snowstorms, and the
political storms of western-backed and directed bullshit over Tibet
has resulted in the Chinese people becoming ever more united as one
with their government, the party and the PLA.

Even the most Sinophobic of commentators admit this, and this is in
part one of the reasons their has been a change of the Western media
approach to China of late, although there are still plenty of
anti-China media out there. The West knows that it has categorically
failed to achieve one iota of fracture between the Chinese masses and
the CPC and PLA.

Of one thing there is no doubt, the West will never rest until China
is brought to its knees. However, China is preparing all the time for
this final showdown which the West is hell-bent on, and will not be
beaten.
