Actually, Charles used more less the same last paragraph in his reply 
to me on PEN-L. I assumed that he was making the same response to me 
on Marxmail but didn't realize he was responding to Sayan.

But that is besides the point.

I have finally decided to ban statements like this, against whomever 
they are directed:

1. Are you in China ?

2. The endless factional war which some fault-finding finger-pointers
wage against the South African government, mostly from the comfort
of the United States and Australia, seems to have no limit when it
finds an opportune moment to launch yet another attack.

Any statement calling attention to the country that someone is 
posting from in this fashion will lead to being removed from the 
list. Here is why. First of all, they are a none-too-subtle statement 
that the person who is posting from "the comfort of the US and 
Australia", etc. are imperialist agents. We simply don't need that 
kind of attack on comrades here. People should feel free to say 
whatever they want about Mahmoud Ahmadinejad or Thabo Mbeki without 
worrying that they will be likened to Christopher Hitchens. Second of 
all, it is really not a political analysis. If anything, it is an 
impediment to the debate that is necessary to understand complex 
phenomena like Chinese or Iranian society. If you feel that 
Ahmadinejad or Mbeki are pushing the class struggle forward, then 
make the case why. Don't try to put a gag in somebody else's mouth 
who is challenging that view.
