Charles, I understand that your email account does not function 100 
percent based on the messages from both Les Schaffer and me that you 
apparently did not acknowledge the other week but you really should 
make an effort to read the 100 latest messages archive to keep up 
with Marxmail discussions if your email account is dysfunctional. In 
fact, Walter Lippmann quoted that same exact passage from the 
Communist Manifesto in support of his neo-Kautskyist conceptions.

Just to repeat, the bourgeoisie did play a most revolutionary role in 
1848 but that was a very long time ago. As I tried to point out in 
another message, which apparently you missed as well, Marxist 
theories about imperialism as contained in Lenin, Bukharin, Rosa 
Luxemburg superseded those passages in chapter one of the CM--not to 
speak of the writings of a host of others including Paul Baran, David 
Harvey, James Michael Blaut et al.
