Re: [Marxism] Iran supports crackdown on Sadrists

Yeah, but the war in Iraq is the main conflict with imperialism
today. The government of Iraq is in a partnership with the US and
with the government of Iran, as the photo of Maliki and Ahmadinejad
walking hand-in-hand would demonstrate. As I tried to point out
around the time that Walter was flooding the list with newspaper
articles about Ahmadinejad being the Mideast's Hugo Chavez, Iran's
foreign policy is contradictory. It is anti-imperialist to the extent
that it aids Shi'a allies in conflict with Israel. It is
pro-imperialist when it gave the green light for the US to invade
Afghanistan. Unless we understand its contradictory character, we
won't get very far. Maybe Walter was trying to say something like
this. If so, I would say that this is progress.
