[Marxism] who is bitter now?

the two interesting points last night: Senator Clinton's embrace of the
imperial presidency in promising that she would not consult Congress or the
Security Council to retailate against Iran if Iran struck not the US but Israel
(Obama emphasized that he would turn to diplomacy); and Senator Clinton's
opposition to a removal of the income cap on payroll taxes. Obama said that the
removal of the cap would only affect 6% of American taxpayers who make over
about $100K a year. He says that he needs that revenue to finance social
security. So my questions: (1) does preservation of social security require
higher tax rates and (2) is it true that cap removal really has no effect on
those households whose individual incomes are below the cap but collectively
above it? If then the cap removal does not have much effect on households but
only the highest income gainers in the US, how can Clinton possibly portray
herself as the economic populist Paul Krugman keeps on telling us she is.
On the bitterness comment, the press has not read the whole answer Obama gave.
He told his organizers not to dismiss small town white America as racist yahoos
who would not vote for him; he emphasized at great length their alienation from
the political system; and he did not stereotype all of small town white America
(those old sunset towns). he said that you'll find enthusiasts there and
skeptics in the rich suburbs.
