Merritt, 'Idol' star team up to tout medication bill

Sheriff argues trained psychologist should make prescriptions if doctor is
unavailable.

Jefferson City -- Greene County Sheriff Jack Merritt and former "American Idol"
contestant Jason Yeager might seem like an unlikely pair to rally support for a
political cause at the state Capitol.

Yeager kicked off the mid-day event by singing the national anthem, a
performance Merritt said was moving.

"The way I hear Jason sing the national anthem makes you want to go out and
kill a communist," Merritt said. "If that doesn't make you patriotic, nothing
will."

One can easily imagine the reaction were a communist to say that Bob Marley
singing "I shot the Sheriff" made them want to go out and kill a cop.
