[Marxism] SEIU disrupts labor notes banquet

One of SEIU's chief officers is Eliseo Medina, formerly one of Cesar
Chavez's best organizers. I worked for the UFW at the time it was
becoming a kind of authoritarian cult (soon to be followed after Chavez's death
as
a quasi racket run by his kids and relatives). Medina left the UFW some time
after this,
resurfacing at SEIU, but has never to my knowledge repudiated what Chavez did.
SEIU's actions
at Labor Notes smack of this same sort of cult-like authoritarianism. Maybe
old soldiers never die.

I know that there are many good and dedicated people in SEIU. I have taught
quite a
few of them. But there is something not right about this union's leaders. If
they are the labor
movement's best hope, we are in a lot of trouble. Not a democratic bone in
any of their bodies.
