Re: [Marxism] Bedia Akarturk

Hello Bill,

Although my brother seems fond of it, I dislike contemporary Turkish folk
music since its original political character that was generally shaped by
the historical discontents of the Anatolian population and Alevi tradition
has been dispelled. Anyhow, I can still recommend you one or two names:
Selda Bagcan (my favorite), Ruhi Su, Arif Sag, etc? As a funny anecdote,
couple of months ago while I was tampering with my brother's new mp3
player, I run against Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wild Side". I recalled that
many years ago he liked that song when I was listening on a tape deck. I
sarcastically asked him whether he understands what Lou Reed alludes to in
this song. He told me that, "I don't care, I like this song".

I think this is what you are looking for:

Meanwhile, Bedia Akarturk?s song is really horrible.
