[Marxism] Condoleezza Rice headed detailed White House discussions on torturing prisoners

I don't know whether it will really bar her for the vice presidency or not
but it certainly takes her out of the category of decent human being.   I
have no position on whether to sign the petition at the end, but I do have a
positive view of positions to have her arrested and prosecuted for her role
in crimes against humanity. Note that Powell, as well as usual suspects 
Cheney, Rumsfeld, et al. was present.

CONDI FOR VEEP? NEW REVELATIONS SHOULD END THAT SPECULATION...The rumorlet
that Condi was eyeing the GOP ticket got some traction last Sunday when Dan
Senor, former spokesperson for the catastrophic Coalition Provisional
Authority, said Rice had recently spoken at a meeting convened by Grover
Norquist and his band of economic snake oilsmen. [snip] 

Yesterday, Rice's chances to be Vice-President got blown out of the water.
ABC News reported that the Secretary of State chaired explicit White House
discussions about which torture techniques should be used on prisoners. 

According to these reports, these talks "were so detailed" that "some of the
interrogation sessions were almost choreographed -- down to the number of
times CIA agents could use a specific tactic." This is more evidence that
senior officials, "not only discussed specific plans and specific
interrogation methods, but approved them". Given these new revelations not
only are Rice's chances of becoming a veep candidate blown out of the
water--if there's any trace of decency left in a GOP headed by two
torturers-in Chief, Bush & Cheney--but this news should also lead to demands
that she resign as Secretary of State. 

As True Majority puts it: "America needs a Secretary of State who can repair
relations with countries around the world and stand up for human rights.
Instead, we have a Secretary of State who chaired meetings on specific
torture techniques. Our international reputation and moral standing are just
the the latest in the ever growing costs of this Administration's foreign
policy. 

The ABC report indicates that officials at these meetings included Vice
President Cheney, former National Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld,
Secretary of State Colin Powell, CIA Director George Tenet and Attorney
General John Ashcroft. It is now clear that abusive techniques at Guantanamo
and Abu Ghraib were not isolated incidents by a few "bad apples". Instead,
they were the logical consequence of policies dictated at the highest level
of government and led by the current Secretary of State. Her directives to
the CIA were unambiguous, "This is your baby, go do it".
