I don't think at all that this discourse on white privilege  
underestimates or papers over class distinctions., Rather, it seems  
to me that it informs class distinctions, or provides one way of  
understanding aspects of class relations.  Racism helps to enforce  
the color line at the level of the dual labor or segmented labor  
market, for instance.  Historically, labor unions in the USA have  
chosen to enforce the color line (the  AFL for instance), or to fight  
against it (the IWW).
