[Marxism] Francisco Galan, now a pacifist

For those of you who are following the situation in
Colombia, the article from Semana magazine which
begins below might be of interest. Francisco Galan,
the public spokesperson for the ELN who has been
imprisoned for many years, has declared that he has
renounced armed struggle and is now a pacifist. How
much this says about the internal state of affairs of
the ELN remains to be seen, since he had long been
physically isolated from his comrades.

organización guerrillera le quitó cordialmente la

Hay días históricos, y el pasado 3 de abril fue uno de
ellos. Francisco Galán, uno de los cinco dirigentes
más importantes de la guerrilla del Ejército de
Liberación Nacional, Eln, visitó al presidente Álvaro
Uribe, para comunicarle ?de manera voluntaria he
tomado la decisión de renunciar a la guerra, no a mis
convicciones. He renunciado a la guerra, creo que es
el momento en que el país se debe comprometer en
buscar la paz?.
