Re: [Marxism] Harlem Conference on Obama (FYI -- past)

Gary writes: "I don't know if Joaquin is approaching hysteria or not, but I
will say he is one damn fine rhetorician. His posts are a must read.
Though I do wonder about the question of what would he say about a Colin
Powell or Condeleeza Rice or Clarence Thomas campaign should one emerge.
And if that is an unrealistic question what about the fact of the very
existence of those three worthies. Their advancement did nothing for the
oppressed."

I know someone wrote here that these types weren't really Black or Black
enough or something like that. I think that's not a very good way to think
of it. I think it doesn't just depend on the individual but the Black
community and the individual's relationship to the Black community.

It's got to be someone who the community recognizes as being in and of the
community, and feels represented by him or her. Otherwise the politics are
totally different. The fight for political inclusion and representation is
fundamentally a fight and a right of Blacks as a people, not just as
individuals.
