[Marxism] Platypus Reading Group

The Left is the fermenting factor in even the most hardened mass of
the historical present. Even though it is at time weak and invisible,
it is nonetheless the dynamite of hope that blasts the dead load of
ossified systems, institutions, customs, intellectual habits, and
closed doctrines. The Left unites those dispersed and often hidden
atoms whose movement is, in the last analysis, what we call progress.
-Leszek Kolakowski, The Concept of the Left

We're writing to this (and other) listhosts in order to plan the
inaugural gathering of the Platypus New York City Reading Group.
'Platypus, founded two years ago in Chicago, is a project devoted to
self-education,
self-criticism and ultimately the reconstitution of the Marxian Left.
We've hosted forums, led discussions groups, and currently publish a
monthly review. For our first reading group session, tentatively
planned for the afternoon of Sunday the 13th of April, we will
discuss Kolakowski's explosive essay on 'The Concept of the Left.

We're sending out this email to gauge interest and availability, so
that we might find an appropriate space.
Send an email if you're interested in participating, and if that
Sunday afternoon would be a good time for you to meet.

Yours,
