Re: [Marxism] David Mamet skewered
A big yawn. Hardly a "skewer" of Mamet's politics or how it shows
through in his works...just a pontification of "another traitor to the
liberal cause". What does make Counterpunch tick I have to wonder?
Mamet is known as a interesting playwright. The staccato lines between
protagonists in a movie can been enthralling, even addicting. Mamet
could of been a conservative for 20 years and no one would of known,
nor cared. That he blurts out his 'brain-dead' line was at least half-accurate.
The biggest Mamet show to date is the much watched "The Unit", a
glorification of Delta Force and it's missions to undermine the US
Constitution at every turn. This is pop-TV, prime time, network, and
very right-wing, more so than the more politically ambiguous FOX
series "24" (rightwing in 'method', but more often anti-rightwing/anti-
corporate in plot). The Unit premiered two years ago and has been
in the works 2 years before that...where the hell has Counterpunch been?
