"Ruthless Critic of Everything that Exists" Except White People writes of
Obama:
It is doubtful if he can "gain ground in race" as you suggest.
---
"The latest poll results for Barack Obama in bellwether Missouri: He's
down. But he's certainly not out for the count.
The Survey USA poll shows just how much Obama was hurt by the
controvery over the hateful words of his longtime minister, Jeremiah
Wright.
The weekend poll said Obama trailed Republican John McCain by a 53-39
margin, far greater than the previous 48-42 margin."
---
Obama is toast. He will not win the nomination now...."
Perhaps, but our "Ruthless Critic" who is so much more Ruthful than Rev.
Wright or others actually underestimates some layers of white people, who
are not as incapable of self-criticism of them as "Ruthless Critic" is of
criticism of them.
"Hateful words"! That better just be a "thought experiment" or you have no
place at all on a Marxism List. Not a recommendation to the owner, just to
you.
Frankly, I think the current situation -- the collapse of both US foreign
and domestic policy in a terrible antihuman heap -- is an excellent
opportunity for a candidate like Obama, The Times and others estimate that
he gained ground. Our "Ruthless Critic" says absolutely not. The "hateful
words" of his minister overwhelm all. Maybe. I can't rule it out. But I
suspect otherwise.
Maybe, over the months that are coming, the US population will prove, on the
average, less vulnerable to racist propagtanda campaigns than our utterly
"Ruthless Critic."
In any case, what has happened to disabuse anyone of the idea, pushed by
Black Agenda Report, that the Obama campaign can abolish or completely
margainalize all discussion of the Black question in the United States.
Quite the contrary. That in itself demonstrates the historically
progressive, in the US context, of his campaign. Which does not require
that I support his campaign, since its progressive features are a fact that
is independent of my will or whatever position I take on it.
