Of course, if the left had  impressed upon the Sandinistas the need to treat
the Miskitos with  more dignity and respect and recognize their rights,
then the counterrevolution would have had less  propaganda success. The
Sandinistas would probably have benefitted more, if the US Left spoke out
more on this issue.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your allies is to criticize them.
