But we do allow that to factor in our political thinking...notice what
Joaquin has been pointing out about the widespread support for Obama and
why "simply supporting Mckinney" or "simply supporting Nader", without
engaging with Obama's strong support, would not be the proper Marxist
stance.
It seems to me that to decide on behalf of the Iraqis, without paying heed
to what the Iraqis themselves seek or want, may be just as arrogant as US
imperialism abrogating to itself the right to decide what is best for
Iraqis.
I believe that the Marxist position would be call for a referendum in Iraq
as to when the occupying forces shall leave.
There is a tradition of first-world marxists deciding what should be best
for third-world workers, without listening to what those workers themselves
want or seek. This can and does lead to elitism and needs to be avoided.
