Re: [Marxism] The Obama Bubble - Black Agenda Report

Raising of dialectics, even if under another name, was and is obligatory in
taking up the Obama phenomenon. Otherwise you wind up with what I believe
are symmetrically mistaken approaches: a sectarian and hyper-denunciatory
stance or a capitulationist one via a concept like "support the movement not
Obama."

If you adopt a strictly denunciatory stance, you cut yourself off from
discussions with thousands or tens of thousands of people who have become
politically active around Obama. And "supporting the movement but not Obama"
doesn't really work for me since the movement is precisely about electing
Obama.

No, I do not have a brilliant proposal to solve this quandry, only that our
tactical stance must take into account both sides of the contradiction and
seek to resolve it in a progressive direction.

Why? It seems to me that "dialectical materialism" is a far more dodgy term
than "dialectic." Whatever one's understanding dialectics, I doubt that they
should be invoked in ordinary conversation/writing on particular topics. As
a rule of thumb may I suggest that dialectics not be invoked befrore the
6000th word, at a minimum, of your document.
