Angelus Novus writes to me: "Supporting the Democratic Party is the ultimate
scab position.  So wear your scab badge with pride, you dork."

Apart from attributing to me a position I do not hold ("support for a
bourgeois hack politician.... Supporting the Democratic Party"), Angelus
Novus with a few strokes of his keyboard basically writes off the entire
U.S. working class and its more advanced layer, Black workers, on the basis
that these workers are trying to relate to politics as it really exists in
the United States today in the electoral arena.

Frankly, the idea that one could be "scabbing" in this kind of bourgeois
electoral farce, where there is no workers party nor any other similar force
with a mass presence, is silly.

But the concern I have, and will repeat here, is not that Black working
people and young people are "scabbing" by supporting what appears to them
the better choice among those presented to them. The concern I have is the
left further cutting itself off from the Black community.

We seem to have this very strange notion that we're entitled to pass
judgment on everyone else, when the reality is that it is we who have been
and are being judged.
