"If the Organization of American States does not condemn the Aggression of
Colombia it will have to be thrown in the garbage" so declared Rafael
Correa, President of Ecuador during his visit to Managua. Nicaragua has
broken diplomatic relations with Colombia.
Ortega and Correa
"If aggression is not condemned, the OAS is absolutely useless and
therefore the least we expect is the a statement of condemnation from the
General Assembly in its session of March 17th" he added.
For this part Daniel Orgega the President of Nicaragua, after a meeting with
Correao announced breaking diplomatic relations with Colombia as a gesture
of solidarity with the people of Ecuador.
In the meantime the AFP has cited statements by the Minister of Defence
Wellington Sandolval, to Channel Uno of Ecuador, informing that the attack
sight "had been bombarded with at least five bombs with incredible precision
within a diameter of 50 metres during a nocturnal attack. "These are smart
bombs which are from the arsenal of the US. This type of bomb has a
precision of one metre and are thrown from aircraft flying at high velocity
and that in order to find Reyes they would have had to use equipment which
none of the armed forces of Latin American states possess.
Correa on his way to Nicaragua met with Cristina Fernandez the President of
Argentina and thanked her for the support during the current crisis.
The President of Argentina was visiting President Chavez to sign several
accords between the two nations. At that time both Presidents ratified their
support of Ecuador and the rejection of any policy of aggression which now
affects all of Latin America.
In another bulletin received from the same source:
Quito: March 6th
The Minister of Internal and External Security, Gustavo Larrea denounced
that the bodies of the Colombian guerrillas rescued by the Ecuadorian armed
forces had shots to their backs.
At least 20 of the bodies being held by the army of Ecuador have evidence of
having been shot at close range. This is a confirmation that what took
place on March 1st was the massacre within Ecuadorian territory.
