Re: [Marxism] The Obama Bubble - Black Agenda Report
Joaquin writes about the Obama "movement", although he admits this alleged
"movement" is confined to bourgeois electoralism, that is, to getting Obama
elected:
"I do not know what will come out of this Obama "movement," but I think it is
a hopeful sign of a re-politicization of young people and the Black
community in a progressive direction, even though its current manifestation
is entirely within the realm of bourgeois electoralism."
Meanwhile American Leftist takes up a similar theme, but goes a bit further
http://amleft.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_amleft_archive.html#1567400689671228274:
"Obama ...has structured his campaign around the most unforgivable taboo: he
encourages his supporters to organize themselves as active participants within
the US political system, as people capable of making demands and bringing about
policies that fulfill their needs."
I don't know exactly what Joaquin means by a "movement," or by a "movement" in
quotes, or exactly what Richard at American Leftist means by "encouraging his
supporters to organize themselves." Outside of "organizing themselves" to ring
doorbells and make phone calls for Obama, where is the evidence of this
"movement" or this "organization." Are there "clubs for change" springing up
that I'm not aware of, that show any prospect of continuing beyond Nov. 2008?
Is
this allegedly self-organizing "movement" organizing around any actual issues -
stop the war, single-payer health care, etc.?
