[Marxism] Obama puzzle

I don't think there is any good reason to believe that Obama will push for an 
independent contiguous Palestine. If anything is done, it will depend on a 
widening split within the Jewish community and independent outside protest. 
Obama will not lead on this issue. He is indeed opportunistic and unprincipled. 
He wants to be president, and his hands are dirty. Louis is bewildered why I 
have then supported him.

Well first, I support the defeat of cluster bomb Hillary Clinton (she supported 
Senate Amendment 4882 and Obama did not) and bomb, bomb Iran McCain 

Second, there is some very slim hope Obama will remember Rashid Khalidi and 
prove a bit more sensititive to Palestinians than the other electable 
candidates.

Obama will however probably lead on the question of civil liberties (if McCain 
wins or one more strike happens on US soil, the Republicans will imprison of 
peaceable activists and ban non violent organizations; another strike on US 
soil and Clinton gives in fully too, probably not so much Obama if we can go by 
his record).

And if he listens to the detested Samantha Power he may even reassure Iran that 
he has taken the threat of military strikes off the table.

And he may be able to put together a good mixture of coalition with Hagel 
Republicans and negotiations with Iran to get out of Iraq. Clinton has little 
chance in my opinion. Can't do it without full bilateral talks with Iran. 

You may have noted that surveys show that  so called Obama fanatics are 
actually more critical of Obama and his ability to deliver than are Clinton 
supporters. Obama does not obviate the need for independent organization, and 
to his credit Obama the community organizer has never said otherwise. My 
experience in the Obama campaign is that his most involved supporters are to 
the left of him and know it. But over on Fox news they are painted as 
breathless fanatics of a rock star. Not my experience. 


My heart drops and my stomach turns when I hear the one sided statements about 
or rather against Palestine, and I am glad that you are here to remind us of 
them
