Katanga? No. Eritrea? Yes. The Western Sahara? Yes.
In the general case, the self-determination of
oppressed nationalities is aimed at the removal of
obstacles to "the cause of socialism". So yes, in some
cases, the launching of "a secessionist war" can
"advance the cause of socialism", at least in an
indirect sense.
Granted, in present day Africa, that's an
extraordinarily indirect sense, but the general point
still holds.
