Defend Immigrant Rights in Danbury and CT!

For nearly 3 years the government of Danbury has led the racist charge
  against immigrants in Connecticut.

On Wednesday February 6th the Danbury city council is set to approve
  287(g), a federal program that will give local police unprecedented  
new
  powers to wage an unconstitutional assault against immigrants.  The
  Mayor and the police refuse to disclose the full scope of this  
program yet,
  but from what they've already told the press, this much is clear:

287(g) authorizes the Danbury police to stop and interrogate any city
  resident who they suspect of being undocumented.
They could access ICE's national database and determine if ICE is
  looking for the person in question.
They could arrest that person, impound his property, fingerprint and
  photograph him, and hand him over to ICE.
It would be within their power to raid homes ? all they would need is a
  warrant and ICE's authorization.

287(g) and the racist, anti-immigrant crusade that it serves can only
  be defeated by a public campaign of resistance by immigrants and their
  allies that makes the enforcement of 287(g) impossible.  As a January
  24th meeting of nearly 1,000 attendees has shown, the momentum  
necessary
  to achieve this victory is rapidly mounting.  As the mayor and the
  common council vote for the 287(g) program inside city hall, let's
  inaugurate the "No 287(g)" campaign outside!
