Re: [Marxism] Mortgage Company Exec Jumps to Death

let me take this opportunity to remind you to clip quoted text when

as for falling profitability, i hear too much debate on this and other
lists to take on faith that falling profitability is the root of
capitalism's current dynamic though it must be a driving factor. i am
ok with accepting there is also a layer of capital's actors that profit
from all kinds of financial and speculative schemes. and i am interested
in the details. i agree with you this happens in many sectors, not just
this one. check out the diagram in the WSJ article, its interesting to
me to see how the extraction of value works at many different siphoning
points.
as for plunging brokers. i wouldn't hold my breath. next time you are up
around Fairfield County USA we'll take a ride around and i will show you
the mansions going up everywhere, with the four and five car garages.

The New American Gentry
Wealthy folks are colonizing rural areas,
bringing cash, culture -- and controversy
By CONOR DOUGHERTY
January 19, 2008
McCall, Idaho
The word "gentrification" conjures up images of once-poor urban
neighborhoods invaded by cappuccino bars and million-dollar condos.
Now, broad swaths of rural America -- from New England to the Rocky
Mountain West -- are being gussied up, too.
