Iran Applauds Cuban Resistance to US

Tehran, Dec 14 (Prensa Latina) Cuba is a sister nation whose values have
allowed it to withstand many years of US aggressions, Deputy Evaz Hydarpur,
president of the Iranian parliamentary group fostering relations with the
Island, affirmed Friday.

In statements to Prensa Latina, Hydarpur extolled the level of relations
between the Cuban National People's Power Assembly, and Iran's top
legislative organ.

"We regard Cuba as a friend country, and the Islamic Parliament of Iran
considers it one of its allies, and recognizes its integrity as head of the
Non-aligned Movement," he sustained.

Hydarpur also indicated the two nations have "similar conditions,"

in the sense that they have been affected by multiple hostile actions by
successive US administrations, particularly threats and blockades.

In another section of his statements, the deputy said he regrets the holding
of the five Cuban anti-terrorists in US prisons, and demanded their
immediate release.

The deputy also expressed appreciation for the Cuban government's
contribution to Iran's biotechnological and pharmaceutical development, 
and highlighted that the Iranian parliament endorsed a project for the
production of medicines and vaccines in a complex set up with Cuban aid.
