Re: [Marxism] Warehouse Workers Quit in Immigration Inquiry by NINA BERNSTEIN-FYI

This is an argument you have made before and there is truth to it,
but of course the overlapping interests between exploiter and
exploited suddenly seems to disappear when a union-organizing
campaign emerges. Because if a union drive succeeds, the workers are
no longer as exploitable.
I just wonder whether or not management would be placed in such a
position if the unions were not organizing at this workplace. Would
ICE even be targeting the joint? I could envision a scenario where
an owner calls ICE to let them know they have "discovered" that some
"illegals" work for them, and at the same time turn around and
sanctimoniously inform said workers that ICE is on the way, you
better watch out. We've seen this pattern over and over when a union
campaign begins to take hold at a workplace staffed by immigrant
workers. All of a sudden, either ICE shows up or management informs
the workers in advance. Either way the damage is done. No more threat
from the union.
