[Marxism] Colombia and Venezuela
Things are blowing up between Colombia and Venezuela.
Chavez issued a statement saying Uribe personally
betrayed him, and that Uribe is a liar, and that
colombia needs a new President.
Uribe shot back in a statement that was staged to look
spontaneous, but sounded like a scripted speech.
Uribe accused Colombian Senator Piedad Cordoba and
Chaves of working with the FARC to establish a new
Constitutient Assembly and a government of transition
in Colombia presumably including the FARC.
Uribe practically gave open support to the cup
plotters in venezuela, saying Chaves''s announcement
would have grave consequences not only
internationally, but domstically in Venezuela.
So far this crisis seems like one that has been
orchestrated, probably from the US embassy here in
Bogotá. The current US ambassador to Colombia was
kicekd out of Venezuela, his main responibilty here
seems to be pulling the strings of the various plots
against Chaves next door.
Stay tuned. Speculation here is that this diplomatic
crisis presages two events: the next coup attempt in
Venezuela, and a military attempt to resuce hostages
held by the FARC.
