Re: [Marxism] Galloway faction splits from Respect:

Louis Proyect quotes the assertions of the Australian ISO as if they were
true and as if they prove something:

> These included declaring the SA a multi-tendency socialist party;
> insisting that Green Left Weekly be the "paper of the Socialist
> Alliance"; and taking 100 per cent of membership fees from local
> branches and effectively crippling local work.

On why this is tendentious rubbish:

Firstly, there's nothing more grossly dishonest in a debate than putting
something in quote marks as if you are quoting something when you are in
fact not. The ISO comrades were here quoting nothing in regards to GLW and
SA, except perhaps for their own previous assertions.

Secondly, if the ISO comrades can't understand that a national organisation
needs a bit of dough, or can't conceive of organising a few film nights in a
pub a year to fund a party branch, as we've very easily done with a small
branch in a small town, one wonders about their capacity to do anything. Of
course they do understand these things, they were being ludicrously
demagogic.

Thirdly, the ISO comrades could of course never bear to admit that virtually
no-one, ever, except for a handful of eccentrics in the Freedom Socialist
Party, agreed, with their "united front" concept of Socialist Alliance,
whereas in every empirical test available virtually all non-aligned members
agreed with some form of a multi-tendency party.

Cherry-picking assertions from one side of a debate you know nothing about
is not very strong evidence Louis.

Further I see you don't appear to be interested in the European broad left
parties I previously mentioned. I could add that in answering your
philistine Anglocentrism, I was being Eurocentric, and that to really look
at this question one should look at the role of organised revolutionaries in
Zimbabwe, the developing efforts in Indonesia, the initiation of efforts in
Pakistan, and probably others as well.
