In this I have not the least disagreement with thee--as concerns the
past half-century or more (as Robertson could testify). But the 1930's
were an entirely different epoch, an epoch of mass revolutionary
upsurge in Western Europe. When Nin and Andrade rejected the French
Turn and liquidated the Spanish Left Opposition into the POUM the result
was not exactly splendid. An independent revolutionary current within
Caballero's PSOE might, just might, have offered better chances.
