Re: [Marxism] Could Socialists not use "Great" before Britain

OK, Luko, I understand that England is distinct from Scotland and
Wales, and that England is a geographical description and not a
political one. And that Scotland and Wales, in spite of their
respective linguistic, cultural, and nationalist expressions and
aspirations, are still politically joined to England, forming the not-
so-united United Kingdom. I hope you would not consider someone who
uses the term "kingdom" to be a royalist, as the root KING implies.
Perhaps that is why I subconsciously preferred England instead.
Tossing around terms like England and Great Britain as synonyms of
the UK betrays a certain "american" informality and carelessness,
admittedly.I always would chafe when someone wrote or said "America"
as synonymous for the United States, feeling that was somehow a
slight of our South American brethren, and that North America is more
appropriate, but really people should just write USA. So there you
go. I think from here on out I will write uk in lower case,
signifying my displeasure with the political implications of both
"United" and "KINGdom" . and lets not even touch on the idea of
COMMONWEALTH. I mean, how much wealth is really shared in common
after all is said and done?
