And one of the reasons behind the burst of hatred against Serbia and
Yugoslavia in general during the 90s was that they showed not to be as
easy a prey as the Greek... And the Greek weren't easy, indeed. The
bourgeoisie always considered the 1945 stalemate as that, as a
stalemate. They struggled until they could check their true enemy out
of life. This is, in the end, what urged Trotsky, who knew himself to
be a potential victim of Stalin, to never surrender the goal of
defending the USSR.
