Look, my father fought in the Battle of the Bulge. In Dec. 1944 to Jan.
1945, there were more than 81,000 American casualties, including 19,000
killed. It is hard for me to visualize allied soldiers standing around
with the arms crossed when Nazi soldiers remain in uniform and armed
after they have been effectively defeated. I understand that the allies
used Nazi assets after WWII but this was done fairly discreetly. The
idea of Nazis in the Netherlands executing deserters (the 2 men were
reputedly had defected to the anti-Nazi resistance) shocks even me.
