Re: [Marxism] Bolivian president appears on Daily Show
I've produced a partial transcript of what I thought were the most important
parts of Morales' Daily Show interview here:
http://lefti.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html#4577116331637037809
Incidentally, this from the Miami Herald is, in my opinion, nonsense:
"Looking a bit stiff and speaking through a translator, Morales did
not seem at first to understand some of Stewart's jokes, delivering
serious responses."
Morales understood the "jokes" (really more like banter) very well. He just
believed in giving serious answers because he considers politics a serious
business with life-and-death consequences. He was perfectly willing to "lighten
up" when appropriate, but not at the expense of squandering his limited
exposure to an American audience with silliness.
