                  State to demand and end to the war.

Six months ago you came out to show your disapproval of the US Invasion
and Occupation of Iraq and to Remember The Fallen Soldiers and Iraqi
Citizens. 

Today, we are writing to ask you to join us again on September 29th to
support Active Duty Soldiers from Fort Drum who are members of the only
active duty chapter of the Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW). 

Since this peace action is being initiated by Active Duty Soldiers, this
will be an historic demonstration against the Iraq war. Soldiers
everywhere will learn about it. The demonstration will build prestige
for the IVAW chapter at Fort Drum, and it exposes as a lie the notion
that the peace movement is anti-soldier. It will tell the world that
soldiers, too, are against the war. 

It is the responsibility of all of us that consider ourselves part of
the Peace Movement that we make this rally a success. This may be the
most important anti-war rally ever held in Upstate New York, or even the
country. 

This Peace Rally will be held in Syracuse, the closest large city to
Fort Drum, and on any given weekend, there are many soldiers on leave
there. Fort Drum has also suffered a larger number of casualties than
any other military base in the U.S. 

NEPAJAC (NORTHEAST PEACE AND JUSTICE ACTION COALITION) is planning a New
York State Thruway Peace Caravan to carry Peace Activists from the
Albany Capital District and Hudson Valley Regions to Syracuse for this
Peace Rally. We are planning on making this Peace Caravan a major media
event. 

The Peace Caravan will be made up of 1 large bus and as many carpools as
we need to get everyone to Syracuse. We will be gathering together for
both the peace bus and the carpools on September 29th at 8:30 AM at the
OGS Garage in Albany at Madison Avenue and Eagle Street. 

Please register for the event and get additional information at our new
www.Neighbors4Peace.org/sept29carpool website. If you want to ride the
Peace Bus to Syracuse, please note that your bus registration is due no
later than this Saturday, September 15th.At his point the bus is half
full. 

We are asking people to register for the event online even if they have
already formed a carpool or signed up for the bus because it will help
us understand how many people are planning to participate. This in turn
will help us get the attention we want from the media and our elected
officials.
