[Apart from the resolution of action to set up committees in defence
of the constituent assembly coming out of the Social Summit (which had
around 10,000 to 15,000 people attend), Bolivia´s indigenous and
social movements also marked out 18 points for the new constitution
which they saw as strategic and non negotiable....]
Social movements to defend 18 strategic points in their proposed new
constitution

Fifteen social organisations, who represent the backbone of the
Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) and the government of President Evo
Morales, publicly announced their "Manifesto to the Bolivian People"
in which they call on all sectors to defend 18 strategic points in the
new Political Constitution of the State, which foreshadows the
expropriation of unproductive land, taxes on large fortunes and the
confiscation of goods obtained via corruption.
The document presented during the Social Summit held in Sucre to
defend the Constituent Assembly proposed the structural reform of the
Bolivian state aimed at satisfying the historic demands of the
indigenous peoples and popular organisations.... rest at
