Re: [Marxism] Our alternative should be an antiwar movement,
Joaquin in one post:
"my gut feeling is that this is what the left should be about right now,
building an antiwar movement"
And today:
"I don't know what a successful
approach for organizing an antiwar movement today is. Wish I did. But I do
know what it looks like when the approaches you are following simply aren't
working."
Evidently Joaquin's "gut feelings" are good for "the left" but not for him.
"Protest demonstrations are a
TACTIC not a strategy. When, where and how they are carried out needs to a
be a function of a strategic perspective that bases itself on an
understanding of politics and social forces."
So what is YOUR "understanding of politics and social forces" then, Joaquin?
Is it possible that your understanding doesn't note the need for a mass
protest to meet the misnamed "Petraeus report" on Sept. 15, and express
people's outrage towards the continuation of the war at a time when the
Democrats are caving right and left (mostly right)?
You critique the local IAC and UfPJ as useless, and I'm in no position to
agree or disagree. But assuming that's true, how about STARTING an
INDEPENDENT antiwar group and organizing transportation to DC for the 15th?
Obviously that's a rhetorical question, it's much too late for that now, but
surely that would have been one way for "the left" to build the antiwar
movement.
If not now, when? If not you, who?
