The main reason he can get away with bombing Iran is because he can get 
away with it with little diplomatic or strategic loss for imperialism. 
It'll take ONE day to do what he wants:

1. Blasting to bits the very much above ground 1000MW Russian 
constructed reactor that is ready to begin fueling shortly.
2. Hit various Revolutionary Guard encampments. Kill a few thousand, 
leave most in place, essentially to punch them in the nose.
3. Hit some oil refining or processing capacity.
4. Some, but not a lot, special forces Rambo crap like killing some 
nuclear engineers.
5. Bunker bust some centrifuge machines.

All this would set back Iran's nuclear program 5 or 6 years, at least. 
There is nothing from a military perspective I see stopping the US.
