Not exactly a "herbal tea", terer? is a cold (usually very cold) mate
served sometimes with orange juice. Once you get used to it, most
useful in the wet, hot climate of Paraguay. And much healthier than
Dr. Pemberton's tonic beverage. In fact, there have been attempts by
Brazilian businesspeople to export the beverage, in its _pure tea_
format, to the United States

In Portuguese spelling, it's _tererê_, the _cold_ mate infusion popular in
Mato Grosso (Central Brazil), as opposed to _chimarrão_, the _hot_ infusion
taken communaly from a _cuia_ (bowl) - passed from hand to hand - by means
of a silver sip (_bomba_), which is considered here mostly as a Southerner
(i.e.,Gaucho) delicacy.

By the way, industrialized cold sweetened mate tea, mixed or not with lemon
juice and sold in a plastic cup covered with alluminium paper, is a very
common softdrink in Brazil, vying with Coke in popularity and avaliable at
any softdrink selling facility (which means bars, street vendors, gas
stations, newspapers kiosks, etc.) and I shouldn't be surprised if there
were attempts by Brazilian businesspersons to go multinational; I shouldn't
also be surprised if such attempts faced all kinds of difficults to suceed,
as globalized capitalism is (obviously) much of a one-way traffic venue...
