Re: [Marxism] Letter accuses China's party of drift
Just so people know, three days after the letter described
below was posted on their site, maoflag.net was given a call
by the state security bureau and ordered to take the letter
down, which they promptly did (the state security bureau
frequently calls them and requires them to remove overly
critical articles). The same happened with the site for the
leftist Utopia bookstore (www.wyzxsx.com), as well as at least
one smaller site. The US-based leftist site
www.chinastudygroup.org (aka csg) also posted the letter in
Chinese and was quickly blocked in China. It has been blocked
for well over a month, in spite of the fact that the letter
has been removed in an effort to get back online.

"Party secretaries have become capitalists, and
capitalists have joined the party," the letter says.
"Foreign corporations are plundering domestic markets
and crushing our national economy."
Letter accuses China's party of drift
The 17 signatories, ex-officials and academics, say
policies make a mockery of Marxism.

BEIJING -- A rare open letter signed by 17 former top
officials and conservative Marxist scholars ahead of a
key party meeting accuses China's top leaders of
steering the country in the wrong direction, pandering
to foreigners, betraying the workers' revolution and
jeopardizing social stability.
"We're going down an evil road," says the letter on the
website http://www.maoflag.net . "The whole country is
at a most precarious time."
