And it's not hard to see why. Material privilege!
Take the leader of the CP. He's chauffered to work at the CP HQ in a
luxury car, can hobnob with government ministers, leading capitalists,
members of the (small) new black bourgeoisie etc.
Moreover, union leaders are never anxious to sever ties with governments
- even governments like Thatcher. They would much rather be in the
charmed circle than out.
However, from the standpoint of independent working class politics, the
sooner the alliance breaks up the better.
