Re: [Marxism] redbaiting

Why is this so? I can already envision the end of this
war and the collapse of the antiwar movement and that will be
a tragedy as it was after the Vietnam War. It's not
really about which demonstration to to this fall, it's about trying
to find a better way to build a popular movement with the
potential to stop this endless cycle of imperialist adventures. I
sincerely would like to hear other opinions on this and if this is not
a proper subject for this list then tell me why."

No, Stiofan, there was nothing in your 'cretinism' post to justify
the redbaiting remark by Walter, imo. If memory serves, there was a
huge debate on the list back in the spring on this very issue, and
most people were expressing the same points you raised in your two
posts. People I know are totally fed up with the war and the left-
wing clubs, but they'll probably take Walter's advice and pick and
choose one or the other protest to attend. Quite a shame, really.

That said, UFPJ is probably casting the widest net so I'd probably go
with them in spite of their stone age wooing of the democrats. I
think a united front is really too much to ask at this point. That
would demand some serious navel-gazing and ego-shedding, and these
left-wing clubs are all about ego and not much else, I'm afraid.
