My encounter with the FBI was more in the nature of a farce -- and after
it was over I realized that it wasn't an encounter of the FBI with me as
me but with me as the parent of a Venceremos Brigade member! One
Saturday morning (when I had been up late the night before) my daughter
woke me up to say there were some people down stairs to see me. I needed
to piss & became irritated when my daughter kept urging me to hurry.
When I got down to the living room, here were these two bozos (trench
coats even) and one of them flashed his badge and said we'd like to talk
to you. I was thoroughly pissed and still only half awake. "Am I under
arrest?" "Why , uh, no." "You may leave," and they left.

It was a regular practice at that time for the FBI to harass Venceremos
Brigade members by calling on their (assumed conservative) parents, and
as soon as I paused to think I realized that the two agents had never
even heard of me, they were just carrying out that harassment of my
daughter.
